Mad Foxes - Mad Foxes (DVD) [Full Moon Features - 2018]It’s fair to say Mad Foxes is one of the most OTT, depraved, and sleazy shots of exploitation you’ll ever have seen. Originally released in 1981, and pretty much banned in most of the world for many years- the film is a scuzzy blend of biker, kung fu, and vigilante cinema- smeared with liberal amounts of flesh( both male & female), gory death, and very un-PC sentiment. Here from Full Moon Features, we have a recent region free DVD. Mad Foxes (Los violadores) was a West German production- it was directed by Paul Grey- who had also worked on the likes of Cage Women, and Jess Franco’s notoriously gritty & stark WIP movie Barbwire Dolls. And produced by swish exploitation legend Erwin C. Dietrich- so you know you're in for something sleazy, and boy does this live up to its promise, and then some.
The film opens with the rather vapid middle-aged playboy Hal out with his 18-year-old date- coming across a group of Nazi bikers( The Mad Foxes) on a night out. One thing leads to another & the gang rape his girlfriend, and beat Hal up…and what follows is a sleazy/ bloody tit-for-tat between Hal(and his associates) & the Foxes, and really that ’s all the plot we have. Mad Foxes is just really an excuse to thrown one deranged & offensive thing at the screen after another, running down the list of what we have here is: Hymen breaking rape, castration then mouth stuffing, maid gutting, wheelchair shootings, and Nazi S&M. This is surrounded by liberal amounts of male & female nudity, soft-core action, lots of bloody murder, car & bike chases, and some rather lackluster martial arts action. All topped off with a tacky-yet- downbeat ending.
The version we have here is the English dubbed version of the film, and it’s apparently completely uncut. The picture quality of this new release is good enough for a 80's film. Extras wise we get a thirty-minute joint interview between Erwin C. Dietrich, and two of the Mad Foxes today- this is in German language with English subtitles, and it’s amusing enough. Then we get a second eight-minute interview with one of the same bikers again, this is really pretty much pointless as he repeats much of what he said in the other interview.
If your looking for no-nonsense & fully focused exploitation sleazy, with no pretensions at art or depth, then Mad Foxes is the film for you. It’s certainly one hell of a ride, and really you’ll rarely find your jaw off the floor. Kudos for to Full Moon for unleashing this grimy 80’s gem into the world once more. Roger Batty
