Go to the Jesu website  Jesu - Silver [Hydra Head - 2006]

Jesu new ep Silver is a great mix of heaviness and lite memorable melodies. On paper one wonder how this can work as both seem the opposition, but trust me it works. The tunes will get stuck limpet like inside your mind, but it still has the crushing blows of the led like riffling.

Silver is called an ep but it’s more towards a short album clocking in at near half an hour, offering up four tracks in all. Broadrick and co have managed to mix the addictive pop element of indie guitar music and guitar crush in such a breathtaking, heroic and epic way making a glorious diffting  canvas of sound, to get lost in . The only other band I can recalling making pop and heaviness work in the same way, were Type o Negative  on their October Rust. album. All of the tracks are great here, guess the opening title track is my favourite, with it wonderful piano melody, weighty walls of guitar riff all around it, and Broadrick's clear soothing vocals, trust me you’ll find your self humming it. As usual with Hydra head stuff the packing is amazingly well done, the haunting cover picture of a tree in the mist as well as two other pictures on misty land scapes on the other two inlays, topping off great music with great packing.

Can’t seem to get the damn thing off my stereo, to let other stuff get a play. With out a doubt a must have item, one of the surprise highlights of the year, so come in a enjoy the heavy soothing light. Can’t wait to hear what they do next.
