H4N3K3 - Youngster [Self release - 2025]Youngster is a truly punishing ten-minute journey into lose, roughshod, crude, at points shifting walled noise. Going from the releases title, and severed hanging limps on ropes cover artwork we find out the subject here is decidedly troubling- child cannibalism. H4N3K3 is one of the projects of long-term/prolific Vancouver based noise creator Zee Jupiter( aka ZJ, Atrophic Decay, Deep Porkow, Dump A Monolith). The project has been active since late 2019, staring off as a harsh noise venture- with discogs claiming it’s only released eleven release- though in reality I’d say you could double/ triple that number.
The single track here is entitled “Suturing The Flesh”, and it comes in at ten minutes and forty nine second mark. It opens with a lose and crude blend of muffled low end chugg, cluttering slide ‘n’ scape, and roughshod billow. As we progress the elements start to subtle shift and move in their settings- with one getting the impression that at any moment the whole thing could break apart, or suddenly crash into it’s self.
Over the track unfold we get neat moments of buffing ‘n’ baying bass tone drag, billowing drag meets manic rattle, murky cluttering, and moments of slurred grate. From around the seven minute twenty moment I’m making out faint/ difficult to fully discern musical element- I’m guessing from a film soundtrack/ similar.
If you enjoy where HNW and harsh noise meet then Youngster will appeal- with Mr Jupiter managing to cram in a fair bit of rewarding textural nastiness and shift in it’s just under eleven minute unfold. Check in out here. Roger Batty
