Logan Threedouble - Hollyhock Way [Self release - 2025]Hollyhock Way serves up three ten-minute slices of walled noise. Each of these sound fairly different, with a keen creative air present throughout. Logan Threedouble is a noise project from Lake Elsinore, California that started off as a cut-up noise venture and has seemingly been active since 2017. Discogs lists it as having just one release( not this one) but clearly, they’ve done loads more releases- with over on the projects bandcamp, there are a few releases, as well as other projects. Artwork-wise this digital download takes in a picture of a deserted highway, I’m guessing near Lake Elsinore. Drop by here, to check out the release for yourself
Each of the tracks hit dead on the ten-minute mark. First up we have “Changing Of The Leaves”- here we find a bluntly blow-out blend of billowing ‘n’ baying low-end, junk-like slow-mo clutter, and muffled fork. It sounds akin to something huge tunnelling under some vast deep sea of twisted, ripped, and buckled steel.
Next, we have “Every Little Memory”. Here we find a tight and rapid flow of mid-range chop, constant beaded roll, and subtone chugg. It’s a nice urgent ‘wall’- at points, it does feel like it's going to slow down or fall apart- but it never does.
Lastly, we have “The Raven And The Hawk”- and here things go all out dense and raging wall-bound. With a constant clamouring mid, distant cluttering churn, and subtle sub-bass hiss ‘n’ roll. A great overloading end to the release.
I’m ashamed to say this is my first taster Logan Threedouble- but it most certainly won’t be my last. All in all Hollyhock Way is nicely varied and well-executed wall noise release Roger Batty
