Clint Coker - Fragments [Altar Of Waste - 2015]Austin Texas Clint Coker is a guitarist and noise experimentalist, but with-in the walled noise scene he’s most known for his old horror movie focused HNW project Nightmare Castle. Fragments, as it titles suggests is a collection of sonic-off- cuts, experiments, and blends of guitar work & experimental texturing from Mr Cokers various projects. The release comes in the form of a CDR on Minneapolis based Altar Of Waste, and it comes in the labels house style clear DVD case, which features doubled sided colour artwork. The disc takes in nine tracks in total, and these each have running time between one & seventeen minutes- with a total running time of fifty four minutes. We move from move from locked noise galloping meets slight blues tinged yet seared guitar wonderings of "Jesus on Speed". Through to high pitched chopping ‘n’ feasting noise meets sudden brooding guitar drone dwells of "This Cancerous Babylon". Onto the woozy & muffled ambient guitar feedback & distant creepy knock of "Snow". Through to sour & tight gitar pick meets drunkenly scrubbing moodiness of "Impromptu For Prepared Guitar & White Noise". All in all the CDR is fairly varied affair, with the mood & type of experimentation shifting nicely from track to track With Nightmare Castle the sound is firm, thick & aged walled noise, but on this collection Mr Coker clearly shows he is most versatile in his ability to experiment in other forms. Normally this type of collection of tracks from different times, places & projects can be a little mixed, random & inconsistent, but I must say I enjoyed most of what Fragments had to offer.
