Polyester Ghost /Absurd Reality - Untitled [Flithy Sounds Recordings - 2025]Here’s an Untitled split between two US wall projects- Chianti Ohio's Polyester Ghost, and South Carolina’s Absurd Reality. The former severs up two shorter/ tauter tracks. While the latter gives us a single slice of longer/ slightly harmonic/ densely moody wall. This, like many releases from the wall noise scene, is a digital-only affair. It’s released by Scranton, South Carolina-based Flithy Sounds Recordings- and can be downloaded directly from here.
So first up, we have two untitled tracks from Polyester Ghost- this is a new project from David Hilshorst( Whore’s Breath, Use Blunt Object To Open). The first track rolls in at the seven minutes forty-five seconds-five-second mark, and it’s built around this tight, taut and urgent mesh of stabbing crispness and kissing like jittering- as it progresses, more slicing mid & almost quacking highs come into play. The track has an intense, yet playfully surreal feel to it & it’s a great opening ‘wall’. The next track runs at the slightly longer eight minutes and twenty-five seconds- this has very much of a small/ revered up motor vibe, with a taut purr meeting a seared squeal- as the track progresses, both elements seem to subtly climb in pitch/ morph- before blurring/ becoming manic in it’s last minutes. Again, another rewarding track.
Next, we have South Carolina’s Absurd Reality untitled track. It comes in at eleven minutes and seventeen seconds, and I must say it’s the more original take on the ‘wall noise’ form I've heard recently. I guess you'd say it has this sort of Sci-fi vibe about it. It’s a detailed/ dense blend of constantly churning/ buffeting/rattling lows, which are edged ever so often with this eerie, almost harmonic tonal swirl/ twirling element- it sounds like it could have come from the original Star Trek, or earlier cinematic sci-fi fare. Also, we get occasional mid-range blips ‘n’ plops appearing in the moody/ eerier churn of the whole thing. All in all, a great track, and though the Polyester Ghost are most effective, this is the highlight of this split.
In finishing, If you enjoy more originally/distinctly textured wall-craft, this split will most certainly be for you. Roger Batty
