SADOPRAXIA - Pyroclastic Sleep [Gates Of Hypnos - 2025]Pyroclastic Sleep is a thirty-seven-minute slab of densely slipping, sliding, and searing noise craft, which sits somewhere between walled and harsh noise. It’s the first release from SADOPRAXIA- a new collaborative project between two Polish noise acts- Sado Riutals and ECHOPRAXIA. The single-track album is a digital release- cover artwork-wise, we get a blood red and black filtered picture of what looks like a forest. It can be found here.
The track comes in at seven seconds over the thirty-seven-minute mark. And it’s a wonderfully sluggish shifting example of noise form, which is built around layers of blunt churning judder, weighty sways of shifting static sand, slowmo cascading rock rumble, and sub-tone buffing, baying, and hissing.
As I play the track, I get images of either huge/ antiquated robots rolling & trying to battle on a dusty planet, knocking into and destroying sand and rock buildings. Or watching red hot lava first spurt, spill, then scold a dusty landscape.
If you enjoy lengthy journeys into thick, weighty, and slowly searing noise matter, Pyroclastic Sleep will most certainly appeal. I do hope this isn't just a one-off collaboration, as these two work well to create a compelling, crushing & intense ride. Roger Batty
