XbxRx - Sounds [Important Records - 2007]

Sounds is frightening and exhilarating journey into jagged & awkward noisy guitar craft, thundering percussion, sinister & ill sounding ambient guitar uneasy, xylophone and  percussion freackouts/playfulness with red hot splatters of electronic  melt down and pulsing synth.

Think a less knowing, less controlled and more dangerous take on John Zorn’s metal/ avant guitar brain melt downs. The album jerks, judders, rams and seeps sinisterly into you head with Sharpe guitar splitters on rippling bass fluctuations run at  by  abused percussive overloads. This bends all over the place as you hear traces of brutalised blues,  cold turkey funk bends into alien forms,  hyper-real metal guitar melt down and noise flourishers. Managing to sound incredible free yet at the same time tight as an armoured fist- walking the tight rope between improvised and structure, chaos and order, beauty and pain…

A major  brain hotwire that is always on the move, always challenging, always inventive and daring, never dull and never too clever for its own good.
