Fursaxa - Kobold Moon [Syiph - 2008]

Fursaxa's sound is a dense and psychedelic enchanted forest of layered folk & raged choral and harmony vocals lined with hypnotic stuck ambience and ritualistic sonic colour, Touching down in strange wonder, dread and spiritual wonder of the natural.

The project features Tara Burke(Tau Emerald, ect) who seems to play and sing every note and sound here and from its outset the album ushers you into a strange dreamy psychodelic state with Burke vocals seemingly slide and worming their way deep into you psyche. At times she sounds ghostly, at others beautiful /innocent and  at others like a wise women speaking tongues in a dreamily deranged  tone but  never becoming harsh or grating as it’s always mixed smoothly and magical with the instrumental colours. The instrumental backing is made up of droning analogue synth and organ tone, drifting guitar elements, ritual and percussive sound making  but really the main focus here is  Burke vocals that are layered up, fed backwards, let sweetly and sensual hover and stretched out, or built into beautiful warming yet dread tinged choirs. Though-out the whole albums near on 40 minute length your kept captivated, haunted and at times a little freaked out.

An original, rich and magical album that takes you deep into the spirtual wonder of natural- it can be heart wrenchingly beautiful, creepy and more than a little fearful, but it’s always compelling and hypotonic. It can be brought direct from Tara here
