Plastic Boner Band - Isaiah 66.6 [Self released - 2008]Some very great things have come out of self released CDR’s but Isaiah 66.6 is certainly not one of them, actually I think this is the worst self release I’ve ever come across both in its presentation and sonically. So I’m sure your asking why review this atrocity? Why spend time picking it apart? Surely just let it disappear, well I think it's useful to use this as an example as to why everyone is not an artist. Right down to brass tacks and first off the package which basically looks like a piece of badly sawn old cd unit with a piece of badly painted paper tied with black string to it - really it's one of the most ugly, meaningless and artless things you've seen. On to the sound within: each of the five tracks is an attempt at making noise, but it fails badly and it's very grating and again pointless. The tracks are mainly just built on one feedback tone that just loops on and on—with no variation and turned up as high as possible. Yes, noise—as the genre suggests—should be noisy but it has to be manipulated, or textured, or of have some kind of atmosphere and Isaiah 66.6 has none of these. Any idiot can hit an effects pedal and make it loop on and on and that’s exactly what this idiot's done I don’t know who or what The Plastic Boner Band is but let’s hope they never attempt any kind of art or sonic endevor again- because basically they are completely talentless. Avoid at all cost & please dear reader if you every consider making any kind of art in the future give it serious thought otherwise your work will land up as firewood as Isaiah 66.6 will become.
