Tom Carter - Shots At Infinity 1 [Important Records - 2008]Shots at infinity 1 offers up 3 lengthy and highly enjoyable electric guitar works out that are rich with harmonic and atmospheric grace mixing in rock, blues, country and ambient texturing. The three tacks were recorded in various northeastern US basements through late 2007 and are just Carter(Charalambides, ect) and his guitar with subtle and atmospheric guitar peddle use. First up we have Sleepy golden storm which is built around clean and harmonic yet slightly sad guitar country/ blues rock folds which Carter later opens up into some nicely passioned soloing. Then there’s What we knew when we knew, which sees things becoming a bit more electrified and slightly spacey in tone, yet still very harmonic and atmospheric. The lastly Psyche Kinien dips down into more mellow and slightly melancholy waters to start with as Carter unfolds clean sounding guitar harmonics that seem to hint of vast expenses of water bobbing with a few boats in autumnal sun. But as the track opens up he presser down into very passioned and feedback licked soling and texturing. A wonderful, drifting and evolving collection of harmonic and atmospheric guitar pieces played with such passion and emotion that really puts Carter up with the great's of amercain gitar music.
