Wrnlrd - Oneiromantical War [Flingco Sound Systems - 2008]Oneiromantical War is an dense blacked maze like journey into slow ‘n’ deep buzzsaw blacked metal guitar work-outs, which are flecked by odd edger’s and highly with creative blacked spirit. Seemingly the deeper you get into the album the more crushing and strange Oneiromantical War gets. The first thing that hit’s you most about this is the seriously mean, fuzzed-up, ear ripping, feed-back wrapped guitar sound they’ve managed to blackedly harvest here. The next thing is the layers and depth they’ve weaved into the tracks; underneath the riff’s slow saw ‘n’ grind there are all manner of textures and sonic details that reveal them self’s like demonic snake slipping and sliding out of the riff fog wall; be it oddly angled organ or synth damned melodies, chopped up string touches, damned voices or weird ritualized field recording layers. And when it’s not sawing into you head with it’s riff steel it’s dwelling in unevering and dense atmospherics that are sometimes flecked with haunted and damned acoustics; or just swiming in weird shifting vista of sonic damnation. Like the best album this feels like a journey or more fittingly a descent in dammed madness- this has to be played as one long ride so you get the full effect of Oneiromantical War wonderful sonic puzzlement & torture. Not only have Wrnlrd have managed to harness one of the most brutal, flesh ripping and unforgiving guitar sounds in Black metal(or anywhere else for that matter), they also with Oneiromantical War managed to create an unhinged, brutal yet dammed atmospheric masterwork. Truly and completely un-missble- if you dig any kind twisted and experimental Blacked metal art.
