Hunyadi Páncélgránátos Hadosztály - Recycled sounds & Forbidden songs [Mask of The slave Records - 2008]Hunyadi Páncélgránátos Hadosztály are a Transylvania based Power electronics project & with this their first release they brutal rape & regurgitate old Hungarian military songs from WW2 in quite a rewarding & nasty manner. First off this is very short & (not so) sweet as the 3” cdr offers up five tracks that fall between two minutes & just under five minutes a piece. Each track is a mixture of feedback line buzzers, electric drillings, grating & nasty electronics, the odd hint of deeply buried & high pitch feedback drilled vocals. And then of course there’s the muffled or abused military marching, brass band music or rousing totalitarian male voice tip military songs that they royal fuck. It makes for an interesting mix of proud & sadistic with the regal & military pomp of the military songs & nasty inner ear slicing of the noise matter. Sure the idea of mixing old military music and noise is far from new or original, but I quite like the crass & nasty way Hunyadi Páncélgránáto Hadosztály do it. On the down side a few of the tracks do sound a little similar in their use of noise textures, but as this is the projects first release this can be forgiven to a certain extent. certainly worth a look if you like the idea of military music been abused by noise Roger Batty
