Sturmgeschütz - Untitled Recordings 1942 [Suprematist Records - 2010]“Untitled Recordings 1942” is the second full length CDR from this Serbian bleak ‘n’ brutal HNW project who take their name from the German word for assault rifle. The projects focus/obsession is death through war; and in particular death in WWII. The CDR comes in a fittingly stark and minimalistic black ‘n’ white cardboard slipcase which features on the front a skull in a German military helmet and a German WWII hand/ stick grenade, and on the back the projects name and the releases name in Ga erman war time fount. The release features a single self titled fifty eight minute track- which is a locked ‘n’ stark slice of muffled ’n’ crusty bound ‘wall-making’ which sounds like a mixture of: distant gun fire crackle, muffled tank track drone and looped ‘ n’ grainy radio static. The ‘walls’ is fairly slow to mid paced in it’s flow and is built around two or three judder bound, muffled and stark noise tones which goes from being crusty static to deeper throbbing ‘n’ rumbling judders- these tones feed into each other in an appealing yet grim manner. The track keeps ones attention though-out, and it nicely puts you in downbeat yet entranced mood. After find this projects first release( Lined-up) a passable if little underwhelming opening effort, I’m pleased to report that “Untitled Recordings 1942 ” deepens and improves on the projects bleak ‘n’ brutal brand of wall-making, and makes for an entrancing bit of war bound noise texturing- I look forward to hearing more from this project.
