Nascitari - Tanatoxina [Smell The Stench - 2011]“Tanatoxina” is the third full length release from Italian suicidal walled noise project Nascitari. And what we have here is a cdr featuring a single forty minute track of harrowing, raging and pitch black HNW. So far this projects releases have been decidedly mixed - the projects debut release “Simulacro” (on Toxic Industries/Irritant Series) was a battering, bleack & black slice of long formed walled noise, which through not wholly original had a grim ‘slash you wrist’ charm to it. Then came “Cariddi” (on Frances Slow Death record) and once more it featured a single length track, but frankly it was a little dull and predictable, sure it was damn brutal, but ones interest waned at around the 10th minute mark. Thankfully “Tanatoxina” follows on from the promise of “Simulacro”,and it finds Nascitari nicely capture a rageing black maelstrom of a HNW in his bleeding hands. The ‘walls’ built around a fast paced crusty judder that ripped & raped by these seething seas of hissing, billowing and drilling noise waves that sweep & slice in & out of the ‘wall’. Also added into the mix are buried, truly pained, in-ranged & jabbering screams and growls which appear mid-way through & towards the end of the track, these elements add a really deranged & pained air to the proceedings, but thankfully they don’t unbalance the tracks walled structure. As well as the shifts, seers and pained vocal trails with-in the walls unfold we also have one brief dip into complete silence which makes the wall all the more black & painful when it kicks back in. An enjoyable if extremely nasty third full length ‘wall’ from this Italian based project. So if you dig black as night ‘n’ raging HNW with some textural layer shift & the odd pained/ buried vocal trail- this could well be for you. Roger Batty
