Bleak Existence - HNW Is Not Dead [Toxic Industries/Irritant Series - 2011] “HNW Is Not Dead” offers up a single slice of dense popping ‘n’ skipping static & hypnotic walled noise. The release comes in the form of a CDR, and it’s the first release from this Canadian project in a few years. The single track on offer here comes in at 48.38 mark, and it’s built around this great mesh of chopping, skipping & jumping static tones, which are weave into this wonderful submerging ‘n’ head spinning mixture. The 'wall' seems to feast, slice & dart around your ears & head in a most rewarding & busy manner. The static textures utilized here of are all of a mid-tone quality, and I guess you'd compare them to a mixture of deep vinyl like skipping, roaming radio like static catching & jittering manipulated genreal grey static. The tracks feel remains dense & busy through-out it’s near on fifty minute runtime, and structurally the ‘wall’ remains fairly fixed yet from time to time you get nice stuck like build-ups of skipping static, the odd sudden textural layer darts, or on one or two occasions brief moments of silence. I must say I was very taken by the busy & hypnotic feel of this ‘wall’, and I can recommended to anyone who enjoys dense ‘n’ brain twisting static texturing, or more static based walled noise. Lets hope these some more new stuff from this project soon!. Roger Batty
