Analog Brothers - Pimp To Eat [Nu Gruv - 2000]"Wild scannin the technological rhythm laser vibo meter Connected into the time laps per metric spectrometerYou witness landscapes of lyrics at a helio-optic compressionRate of written symmetrics for power profits fit shiftingAnd any tririledium composition recorded today" This snippet of the introrap of 'Pimp To Eat' gives an insight on the subject matter of this album. Hiphop veterans Ice T and Kool Keith hooked up to create hiphop from another level, but not without adopting new aliases: Ice T calls himself Ice Oscillator and Kool Keith is Keith Korg (not Robbie Analog as one would expect since this alter-ego was introduced on the Dr. Dooom album). The other three members go by the names of Rex Roland JX3P, Mark Moog and Silver Synth. These analog synthesizers were used in creating the beats, which turns out to be quite normal if you compare it to other albums of Kool Keith (Dr. Dooom, Black Elvis/Lost In Space and the recent release Spankmaster). Phat phuturistic beats function as backdrop for Ice and Keith's rather unusual elaborations. Keith seems to have an urinal obsession on this album besides his usual rectal interests. Ice T surprises me in a positive way. I've never been too fond of Ice's musical activities but I'm impressed by his achievements on 'Pimp To Eat'.Kool Keith operates in the outskirts of the hiphop galaxy, although firmly based in old-school hardcore hiphop, both musically and lyrically. The lyrics are too far out to be understood by us mortals, I have no idea what they are talking about but it sounds cool and it makes your head bob all the way through. Just like the pictures on the CD nothing is 'normal' about the Analog Brothers. On 'Shut Down Show' the Analog Brothers get backup from the Synth-A-Size Sisters: an all-girl group which seems to be Kool Keith's Mary Jane Girls or Apollonia/Vanity 6. People who think hiphop is only about reworking old hits and bragging about material possession should check this out.For me this is one of Kool Keith's best releases I heard so far. Tracks like 'More Freaks', 'Who Wanna Be Down' and 'Bionic Oldsmobile' are some of the coolest hiphop tracks of the year 2005. Kool Keith has created his own niche in contemporary hiphop and remains a force to be reckoned with.
